Divergent: Book or Movie?

So many people have been arguing over whether or not the book or the movie made along the Divergent story line is better than the other. I was a little late getting around to reading the book, and when I saw the movie, it was that much harder to decide which one I favored more. Of course, the book being the original plot and all, it was much more informative because it contained that many more details than the movie did. But then again, the movie was pretty epic. The actor chosen to play Beatrice as one of the main characters was the perfect choice. Shailene Woodley played her part very well, and fit the character demeanor wonderfully. The right attitude, facial expression, and body language was used near exactly when it was needed, thus relating to the main characters was easy and entertaining. A thrilling and suspenseful film, paired with a series full of mystery, difficult choices, and romantic adventure makes for quite a debate. What do you think? It is a positively wonderfully written story, I highly recommend it to any few who haven't read or seen it yet.

Books vs Movies

What is better, sitting in the theater while a little kid kicks the back of your seat and spills popcorn all over you or snuggling up at home with a good book, a blanket and absolutely no one to talk to? Some people may answer, of course it must be a movie, because a book is boring. It's a slow process, it takes so long to do, there's too much thinking involved. Others may answer, why go out and waste money, when an adventure awaits you at your desk? Books contain mystery, and most of the fun is finding things out for yourself and experiencing it like you are really there. When into a book, instead of seeing the results of someone else's opinionated response, try to see what happens from your own point of view. We all interpret things differently, so one person may take a situation like fear, while another might see it as an opportunity and a lot of excitement. Directors of movies often alter some of the plot, and whether or not viewers have read the original story, this can confuse and upset some people. Books are a better way to entertain and inform people because they contain all of the original important details that are usually vital to the understanding of the story. So of course, a book is much better than a movie.

How Reading Can Have A Positive Effect On Your Health

Reading can have a positive effect on your health because it is good for you to learn new things. You also exercise your brain when you read. With the same benefits your brain gets from doing things like math or puzzles, we strengthen our mind like the muscle it is. It is also important for us to stay healthy by reading because we can learn a lot of the things we use to live healthier lifestyles and to make more beneficial choices from the information we acquire as we read. Besides, we wouldn't know all we do about our health and living different ways if it weren't for all the people that decided to record what they had learned.

Walk into a doctors's office (a real doctor's office, not an examination room) and you will usually see a shelf with a lot of books containing important information that I'm willing to bet, no guarantee, they refer to quite often. And if they don't, then they are either a pretty freaking smart doctor and memorized everything they know, or they get all their knowledge from other doctors who are actually working. So many people have saved lives or made life healthier for themselves or someone else because of something they read in a book, whether they read it out of interest in that subject and with a purpose, or if it was an eyeful of useless crud that turned out to be suitable to a situation in their real lives. I even helped my family find more out about Celiac Disease for my sister, Emily. Now we know twice as much as we would have initially known when we found my sister had her allergy, and have found easier ways for her to both live and work with such a complicated diet.

Finally, a person's emotional health being just as important as the physical aspect is, reading can make you feel good. Not just because a story with a happy ending makes everyone smile, but because every little thing is an accomplishment and reading a book can make someone feel complete and fulfilled. Reading is good for your mind and emotion, which in turn can only help you physically. Make sure to read and run often, it pays off, and feels good.

Books and Goals

The goals towards which you work can be influenced by many factors. What you hear or see from others can make you see a situation in a whole new light. Though it may depend on how strongly you already feel towards a subject, reading can either support or destroy that view. Reading books can affect your goals, what you believe in, and what you want to be later in life. In other words, a huge chunk of your inspiration comes from, yes, a big clump of boring little black shapes on a plain white page. Hopefully, you read quite a bit, because we all need a little motivation to keep moving now and then. It is important to find something that keeps you going. Granted, we all get stuck now and then, but that no reason for us to give up. By reading you can work through a lot of your problems, because relating to someone who has the same problems or views can help you better understand how to fix things for yourself. But opening a book and staring at page one won't help you get anywhere. You have to use this little thing called imagination. Reading through other peoples experiences can help you to understand what to look out for in the future, and how to deal with a lot more than it seems books can actually help you with. This is basically all of what is in our history books. Things happened to people, they reacted one way or another, and boom, history happened. Reading also helps with problem solving simply by waking up your brain and opening your mind to new possibilities.

What Makes A Book So Amazing

The little things about books are important, and are what makes a book so wonderful. Books are so much better than movies and video games, they are genuine. Reading a book usually feels more truthful or credible. It is easier to believe someone, or want to listen to what they have to say, when you can see it clearly. Books do just that, letting you paint your own picture as each story comes to life a different way in every mind.

Having to explain the meaning behind a book to someone else is sometimes hard. The whole time they are listening as you try to reach the ending while inconveniently remembering to add another important part usually ends up with them looking at you like you just ate a worm. Of course, they try to understand, or at least pretend to. I like to be on the receiving end, where a person I lent a book to tries to explain it after forgetting to read it for almost a week. But I just smile and nod, it is priceless.

Another nice thing about books is that every once in a while you get one of those books you can't put down. It is not simply a good book. It is a great book. You get so lost in these kinds of books, that when your dad calls you down for dinner, you have a headache because you had been reading so long. I usually try to take it to dinner with me, but he calls me on it, out of habit, before I am halfway down the stairs. My constant thoughts are things like just one more chapter and can't dinner wait, like, fifteen minutes? That is the perfect book.

Finally, though it is one of the strangest qualities in a book, it is just as important. The way the books smell add a sense of comfort and reminds me of a library. The best place on earth, it is quiet, no one is acting like a jerk, and when you finally sit down with the perfect book you know you are going to love it, because you just spent an hour trying to find it. It is old, and dusty, but at the same time represents imagination, making friends with the characters, and not wanting to get up for anything. Except for the sequal.
